Frequently Asked Questions

Can insurers reject my claim because of a technicality?

No. Insurers must treat customers fairly under FCA rules. They can only reject a claim if there's a genuine policy exclusion or if you made a material misrepresentation.

How long does an insurer have to decide on my claim?

They must acknowledge your claim within 5 working days and decide within 35 days (or 70 for complex cases). Missing deadlines is a breach of their duties.

What if the insurer won't pay?

Ask for their decision in writing with reasons. If unhappy, complain to the Financial Ombudsman within a year. It's free and independent.
