Can I appeal an insurer's decision?
Yes. Every FCA-regulated insurer must have a formal complaints procedure. You have 6 months after the final response to escalate to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS). FOS decisions are binding on the insurer if you accept.
What if they offered less than my claim?
Ask for the calculation in writing. The insurer must show its working. Under FCA ICOBS the insurer has to handle claims promptly and fairly. Push back citing the specific clause of your policy and the ICOBS rules.
